2012 Summer Recap – Part II

Beach trip

In July we took a beach trip with Lindsay and Mike’s family. We had a blast but the mosquitoes were terrible! We literally had to dodge them every time we stepped outside. We went to a town called Surfside which is near Lake Jackson, which has an annual mosquito festival. We should have known what we were in for! We spent a couple days at the beach and broke away one day to go to Schlitterbahn in Galveston. The kids love the beach!

Lost Chimney Ranch

Later in July, we were invited by Shea and Tommy to go to Lost Chimney Ranch in Harper, Texas. This was a kid-free event, so it was very relaxing. We spent the weekend lounging around on the pond and playing cornhole.

Eisley’s birthday

The end of July brought Eisley’s 4th birthday (you can see those photos in this post). The cousins came down a few days before and we opened gifts as a family.

Everett’s swim party

In August, Everett had a swim party at his school.

The Oasis

We met Courtney’s family out at the Oasis for her dad’s birthday dinner and a sunset. (A great place to take photos!)

Round Rock Express

In late August, Courtney took the kids to a Round Rock Express game.

Halloween

In October (still summer in Texas), we celebrated Halloween. Eisley dressed up as a princess and Everett went as a tree. We met some of the neighbors and all went as a big group.

Canyon of the Eagles

And in early November (also still summer in Texas) we went with Mike and Lindsay’s family camping at Canyon of the Eagles. It was a perfect way to end the summer!

Eisley’s 4-year birthday party

Eisley turned four on July 30th. She’s growing up so fast! We had her “mermaid princess party” at our house on Saturday, August 4th. We rented a big bouncy castle/water slide that nearly took over our entire back yard.

2012 Summer Recap – Part I

We haven’t written in a while so we’re posting a recap of the first couple months of summer. They have been busy!

We started the summer by enjoying some alone time for our Anniversary. The kids went to stay at Bella’s and we rented a luxury tent at an “eco-resort” called Sinja in Wimberley. We spent three days just relaxing.

In April, we celebrated Easter with the usual egg hunts. We spent time at my mom’s house as well as Courtney’s mom’s house.

Later in April, we celebrated Everett’s two-year birthday with a party. We can’t believe the time has gone by so fast. We reserved a place called Gorgeous Millie and had a Goodnight Gorilla themed birthday party. Everett received many great gifts, including at least three that had something to do with bubbles.

Next up, Courtney took the kids to the world-famous wiener dog races in Buda, Texas.

I spent one Saturday in late April riding a bike for a good cause. I rode in the 2012 Hill Country Ride for AIDS with a team from work. We rode 27 miles and had a blast.

In early May, we attended Courtney’s cousin’s wedding. Eisley and Everett’s cousin Finley was a flower girl.

Eisley’s school year ended in late May and we attended the end-of-year party. There were water slides galore!

After the party, we left for the first of several planned beach vacations. My mom rents a condo in Port Aransas every Memorial day. The kids love the beach! We had lots of wind and rough waves, but that didn’t deter the kids from diving right in.

The following week we threw a surprise birthday party for my dad. He turned 60!

In early June, the kids started summer school. They are both going one day per week this year.

In late June, we took our annual trip to the Frio river. My family rents a big house (two houses actually) and we all get together to swim, tube, drink beer and play cards. Lindsay and Mike joined us with their kids. One night we took the kids to the Garner State Park dance.
