Dear Eisley,

Today you are a month old, and we are still trying to figure out where the time has gone. A month ago today you were brought into this world and now we cannot imagine life without you. Daddy and I couldn’t sleep hardly at all that first night because we were too busy watching you and making sure you were okay. We made it through that first night, and every night after, and each day we wake up so excited that you are here and we get to enjoy you all over again.

You have definitely gained some weight (with the cutest double chin that ever existed) and slowly but surely we are starting to get some smiles from you. Daddy’s new favorite activity with you is ‘sad face, happy face’, as he tries so hard to get the little corners of your mouth to turn upward in a grin. Your once completely wobbly head is now becoming a semi-wobbly head as you work on those neck muscles, and you are beginning to learn the strength in your little legs.

We marvel each day at the changes that take place, and can’t wait to see what lies just around the corner. We hope that your first month of life has been one of contentment and love, and we promise to shower you with more of the same each and every day.

Love,

Mommy and Daddy

Sunday was a monumental day for Eisley because she had her first bath. We have been waiting for her belly button to fully heal before diving in to bath time, and felt pretty confident that it was okay at this point. After figuring out her little tub (thanks Angelica for giving it to us!) we got the girl prepped and were prepared for her to not enjoy what was about to take place.

Eisley actually did a great job and was completely relaxed. She was very patient with her rookie parents, and we even got a smile or two which made us so excited and happy. Of course we had to tape the event to preserve the occasion (one of those things that will probably make Eisley roll her eyes at later in life). Here is a little snippet for your viewing pleasure…

Thank you Larisa for coming by and taking some pictures with your awesome camera!

Another week has come and gone, and we are definitely beginning to see some subtle changes in Eisley. Her wrinkly little knees aren’t quite as wrinkled anymore, and her cheeks are somewhat fuller. Her midsection has always been round, but it is beginning to bulge every so slightly (in a good way of course).

Each day our little girl is growing and changing. While this fact is something we are both excited about, it would also be nice to stop time for a bit to fully capture this moment. Wrinkly knees or not, we realize how incredibly lucky we are to watch Eisley exist each day in this world.

We have made it through two weeks now with this precious being, and while there is still a great deal of learning yet to do, we are slowly grasping our role as parents. So what if I have already called the nurse at the pediatrician’s office three times! My new mantra is that it is better to call than to guess (and therefore I will).

Eisley has made some great strides in her growth, and we couldn’t be happier about that fact. At her two week appointment on Wednesday, we discovered she now weighs 7 pounds 9 ounces and has grown an inch in length. Her head circumference is in the 10th percentile, but we are certain that her tiny noggin is just full of intelligent gray matter.

To mark Eisley’s second week there is a new picture, but there is also another video to view if you care to take the time. Nicholas has worked extremely hard on putting together a little visual map of our path to get to where we are today (and it makes me cry every time I watch it). Enjoy!
