Dear Eisley,
Friday was your 6-month birthday. Has it really been a half a year since you came into this world? Sometimes it feels like you have been here for only a minute, and then other times it is hard to imagine what life was like before you arrived. Either way, whether it is a minute or a month, our love for you grows exponentially with each passing moment.
You are growing up right before our eyes and Mommy and Daddy are always amazed at the new skills you master, making it look so effortless. You are rolling from your tummy to your back like it’s no big deal and you have even rolled from back to tummy a couple of times. When you are on your tummy, you manage to dig your little feet into the ground and lift your body ever so slightly. Looks like you might be ready to get moving before long.
We reached a major milestone yesterday on the day that you actually turned 6 months old. You had your first taste of rice cereal. Well…you and Daddy both tried it out actually. You ate pretty well even though the experience was totally new. We are so proud of you for sitting at the table like such a big girl and eating from a spoon. Mommy and Daddy have a sneaking suspicion that you might be a really good eater. As soon as we get the cereal thing down a little bit better, we promise to offer you some foods with a little more flavor.
Speaking of eating…you got your first tooth! About a week ago one of your bottom teeth made it to the surface. Just like with everything else, you did a great job handling the whole teething thing. A little fussy, yes, but you have every right given the fact that such a dramatic event was taking place. We know that before long, that tooth will be showing up in your little grin.
You are trying really hard to sit up these days and can do so with very little help. A few times you have even sat unassisted for a minute or two. It will be fun to watch you sit and play and explore the world from that angle.
Things in our world are so much brighter because of you. How we got from the moment the doctor told me to open my eyes to see you for the first time (Mommy was a little focused on pushing you out) to 6 months later, is something that is hard for both Mommy and Daddy to comprehend. All we know is that every single moment of that span of time has been filled with love, with happiness, and with pride that you are our daughter.
We love you,
Mommy and Daddy
*ETA: At press time, Eisley has officially mastered the back to tummy roll.

I love the banging on the tray. This girl likes to eat! I also love that she was ready to drink it right out of the bowl.

The next video better be of her first caviar.
